Greetings from ENEDA-NCR

ENEDA, a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Entrepreneurship Education, will be holding its 1st Regional Conference of ENEDA and YES NCR on November 29, 2008 (8:00am – 3:00pm) hosted by Miriam College at the Marian Auditorium entitled:

“Building Capacity and Competency in Entrepreneurship Education.”

This first of its kind conference is a joint program with the Young Entrepreneur Society or YES NCR chapter. YES NCR is the student organization counterpart of ENEDA. It is worthwhile to note that no less than Dr. Amelia A. Biglete, the director for CHED NCR, has issued an endorsement dated 26 September 2008 encouraging entrepreneurship educators, school administrators and students who are would-be-entrepreneurs to attend the conference.

The conference highlights are:

Morning Sessions:

1. The presentation and introduction of ENEDA and YES NCR Officers , our goals and directions;

2. The presentation and forum by DOST, DTI BMSMED, and TRC. This will briefly tackle the range of information resource assistance and support programs from transforming project ideas of students into successful entrepreneurial ventures and citizens - in various stages of venture development;

Afternoon Sessions:

3. Noontime/lunch show of : the Latest Teaching Communication Tools and Support System to Enhance Teaching Competency and Building Integrity for Entrepreneurship Educators by: MicroData and Selected Representatives from Book Publishers : Pearson, McGraw Hill, Wiley as well as well as Mind Movers, a local distributor and publisher;

4. Focus Group Discussion and Interview Results (research- in-progress as of this date) entitled: Find Out and Fill In the Teaching and Learning Gap” in entrepreneurship courses of selected ENEDA and YES NCR member schools;

About the President

As the president of ENEDA NCR, Ms. Maria Luisa B. Gatchalian brings to the organization 30 years of experience in entrepreneurial education, training, research, consultancy, and teaching.

Ms. Gatchalian has a background in business education from the Philippine Women’s University (1974); clothing technology from the University of the Philippines (1986); and an MA in Education with specialization in Values Education from the University of Asia and the Pacific (1998). She has also taken up selected MBA courses at De La Salle University and post-graduate courses in industrial management at the Research Instituut Ver Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.

Early in her career, she was part of University of the Philippines – Institute for Small Scale Industries which deals with small industry development in the various area of research, consultancy, training, advocacy, and information dissemination. She later found her calling as a college professor at Miriam College, one of the country’s premier and exclusive women learning institutions, where she teaches business, entrepreneurship and communication subjects.
